Hello, my name is Brittany Berry. I have a Bachelors's in Psychology, and I earned a Master of Science degree in clinical mental health at William Carey University. I view counseling as an essential tool in assisting the client with movement from crisis to stability. Developing the relationship and building trust is also a process and a necessary component of the stabilization process. Once stable, I will work with clients to develop coping skills and work through their issues. My personal theoretical approach to counseling is based majorly on the psychoanalytic and Cognitive Behavioral Theories. I believe that there are things that happen to us and around us as humans that we push to the very deep, dark, the recess of our minds and hide them there because they are too painful for us to deal with. If these traumas are not brought to the light and dealt with, I feel like they weigh us down in life without us even realizing that they are causing us issues. Once those issues are brought to light, then the client and I can use CBT techniques to learn to cope with those issues. Counseling is the process where mental health distresses and disorders are assessed, evaluated, and treated. Counseling services are generally unlike any services clients may receive from a physician in that they require the client's active participation and cooperation. Counseling can be both pleasant and unpleasant. The client may experience uncomfortable feelings (such as sadness, guilt, anxiety, anger, frustration, loneliness, or helplessness) or recall unpleasant events in the client's life. Hopefully, clients will have a reduction in feelings of distress, better relationships, better problem-solving and coping skills, and resolutions of specific problems. It is difficult to predict what will happen, but I will do my best to make sure clients are comfortable and can handle the risks and experience at least some of the benefits. Counseling is a team effort. The client's active participation and commitment are encouraged and expected to achieve the best possible outcome.

Collaborative Counseling, interpersonal and multicultural
About Me: I am not here without others’ who helped me understand how strong I was. My career path took off first into sports coaching, fitness training, and yoga instruction in higher education. It was here I became inspired to help others find what’s true and meaningful to do. My personal keys to success are creativity, authenticity, and connection. I view coaching as an interpersonal process that helps you achieve positive change and growth. I have connected myself with deep experiences around well-being and supporting others, recently gaining recognition from the International Coaching Federation as a Professional Certified Coach. I am trained by WellCoaches and the Co-Active Training Institute, two of the most widely recognized and established professional coach training and certification programs.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) and Solution Focused Therapy Techniques are used to identify irrational, dysfunctional, or self-defeating thought patterns and replace them with positive thoughts and a plan of action for achieving goals. Examining our thoughts and actions to determine where we are blocking success improves our ability to see the world as full of possibilities and opportunities
I believe that you must meet a client where there officially are. Also, building up trust and rapport is a vital incentive for the therapeutic relationship to become successful. I have been fortunate to be a part of both worlds, professionally and personally, on a personal note, I have experienced several of the trials and tribulations that are presented to the platform, and this is what led me on my quest to be a prominent clinician that I am today. My key areas are dual diagnosis, Coping Skills, Life Transitions, Substance abuse disorders, etc. Also, my specialty is delivered to all levels of care. For instance, individual, family, children, LGBTQ, and couple’s therapy.
My expertise allows me to employ an eclectic approach to clinical practice, such as implementing Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Therapy (MBCT), Biopsychosocialspiritual Assessments, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Culturally Sensitive, Person-In Environment (PIE), Trauma-Induced Care, Strengths-Based and Person-Centered models, to list a few.
I am a Licensed Counselor, and I have focused my professional career on helping individuals process trauma and thrive in a life they desire for themselves. Each person is different, and I want to come alongside individuals and help them achieve the dreams and goals they have for their lives and their families. I have experience working with survivors of human trafficking, childhood abuse, rape, and domestic violence. I also have trained to work with individuals with disabilities, delays, and deficits. In addition, I have a passion for helping families build healthy, safe, and collaborative relationships and fostering love and compassion for each other. I also have 15 years of experience dealing with sleeping disorders and enjoy helping people overcome insomnia issues and coping with narcolepsy.

"I thought scheduling time to talk about my life seemed mechanical and inorganic, especially with someone other than a therapist. But I was going through a big transition in my life that needed more than counseling. I moved to a new state and struggled with what God wanted from me in this new season. I am so thankful He led me to mentorship. I realized that my apprehensions were false. The relationship I cultivated with my mentor Denard made the experience unforgettable. He guided me towards the tools to help me find my purpose instead of just telling me what to do. Every conversation was spirit-filled. I was able to plant roots in my new city and open myself to what God had in store for me. Having someone who went through what I was going through and wasn't afraid to share his personal experiences was like having the cheat code on my journey.
I was encouraged to lean into every challenge. The paradigm shift I went through took me from fearful to fearless, from doubtful to grateful, and from "God why am I here" to "God where to next." I can honestly say I would not have the mindset I have now for the intentional sewing that my mentor Denard put into my life. I am supposed to be doing what I am supposed to do, and I could not be happier."~ a doctoral engineering student at Clemson University
"I've enjoyed the safety that Tenickia Polk offers as she provides Godly wisdom. I appreciate being able to speak openly and not feel guarded or judged. In her presence I feel that I can speak openly, honestly and I am welcome and free to be me. I really appreciate her."
During Pastor Tenickia Polk teachings I recognized some old ways of thinking that I had gotten comfortable with. She focused on several things I needed to hear, and I repented of things on her fear list that I didn't even recognize until yesterday. Long story but I came with sinusitis and a block tear duct.
When I got in the car I said "thank you Father for all the juicy meat I got fed and I want to live in that Christ Centered Way, thank you for the truth about those fear things I didn't notice"...I got a phone call opened my mouth to answer and all my sinuses started to drain then a huge mucus plug came out. I texted Pastor the praise and the picture Needless to say, I am healed and free.
"Working with Phoenix has been a life changing experience. She is extremely personable and has the ability to connect quickly. I wasn't sure what to expect when I started but she has helped me realize some of my goals were outdated and helped me refocus my energy on what I really want to achieve. She helped me see the blocks in my way and gave me amazing tools to work past them on my own. Changing my mindset has set so many awesome things in motion for me. She is always encouraging, patient and insightful. She knew exactly where to push a little harder to help me reach farther. If you are wondering if a life coach could help you, Phoenix is where you figure out it will!"
"Phoenix is the real deal. It only takes one meeting with her to feel like you've both been friends for years. If you are feeling frustrated or stuck in your life please do yourself a favor and message her. She listens to what your goals are. She then is able to lovingly push you with enough motivation and accountability that allows you to reach those goals. She is such an inspiration, but also relatable which makes you feel that you are not alone. For me, she has been my biggest cheerleader- seeing the good and strength in me before I could even begin to see it in myself. She saw my potential and was determined for me to see it too! Throughout our sessions, she has encouraged me to take time to focus on ME and how to love myself just the way I am. She has taught me that I am in control of my thoughts and just because I think something doesn't make it true. Phoenix has laughed with me, she has cried with me and through it all she has been by my side helping me grow as a mother, wife, and friend. I know she will do the same for you."
"I came to Phoenix feeling stuck - stuck in my pain, stuck in my circumstances, and stuck in my emotions. Working with her has helped me understand why I was stuck and she gave me the tools I needed to break free. Every time I met with her I had a breakthrough. Phoenix has been such a blessing!"
"Danelle is one of the wisest and most compassionate people I've ever met, voice has been an invaluable source of guidance in my e struggling or just want to optimize and think you could from having someone to talk to, I can't recommend her service highly enough."
"When we first started working together, I was drowning at work and not in a great headspace. Several areas of my life were lacking which we've worked on addressing. Danelle helped me set better boundaries, think differently, put things into perspective, and prioritize areas in my life that needed attention. In just a few months, I've noticed a dramatic change in my mindset and happiness."
"I really loved the coaching model Danelle shared with me to help breakdown the way in which my brain is currently wired to process certain triggering scenarios. It was really insightful for me to recognize certain patterns I never knew existed, and prompted me to take actions which I hadn't thought to historically. I think it will be a really beneficial tool to utilize to facilitate better relationships with people and generate more desirable outcomes in challenging situations in future circumstances."
"I would absolutely recommend Danelle as a coach. She's an incredibly empathetic, understanding, supportive and very professional individual who cares deeply about her work and the wellbeing of her clients. She takes time to recognize small wins and breakthroughs that I'd usually gloss over, and has a very calming presence and soothing voice which makes it so easy to open up and feel comfortable with her."
"Before coaching, I knew I wanted something that made me make the time to work on being more in touch with myself and what I want/need, and to navigate life's challenges in more healthy ways. The pandemic wore my resiliency thin...I felt like I had a toolkit prior to the pandemic but during -- not so much.
It's not easy for me to be trusting or ask for support or help. Through coaching with you, I feel like I'm organizing my life/thinking in a way that makes me feel more expansive, which is exactly what I wanted. Also, I'm acknowledging things I'm grateful for much more, and celebrating the ways in which I'm doing well."
"Because of your coaching, I’m able to process my feelings and give myself permission to create boundaries in my relationships and not feel guilty about these boundaries or feel a sense of abandonment. I had so much of shame and guilt around creating boundaries, and have felt a removal of this shame.
Coaching with you has been the greatest testament of my reattachment to myself. You’ve created a safe space for me to show up and do this work."
"I didn’t have had the tools to get to the place I’ve wanted to be. You’ve been a guide for me, and I look to you for guidance because you have the tools that have allowed me to take myself to places that I’ve wanted to go for SO long."
"Through coaching with you, I’ve learned how to connect to my own higher power. I’ve been able to experience myself from a place that I’ve never experienced myself from before. Being able to see myself for who I am and love and honor her has been the greatest gift.
This experience has just been everything I’ve been longing for for a long time. You’ve been an incredible mirror. Thank you for being such a safe space to uncover my triggers and traumas and plant them back as beautiful little flowers in my garden. I water these flowers with whatever I need because I’m not scared of these parts of myself anymore."
"I would absolutely 100 percent recommend your coaching for anyone who is ready to feel unstuck and get to their next level, whatever that may look like."
